The Everest Base Camp Trek, the Manaslu CIrcuit, the Annapurna Circuit, the Gokyo Trek,... most of Nepal's world famous trekking routes will take a hiker two weeks or more to complete. But what if you don't have the required time, confidence or fitness to tackle any of them?
The good news is: there are numerous amazing treks in Nepal that can be completed in a week or less and the two most famous of these one week treks are - by far - the ABC trek from somewhere near Jhinu Danda up to the base camp of the world's 10th highest peak and the Langtang Valley trek starting near the Chinese/Tibetan border and taking you up a quiet hidden valley to sunny high altitude yak pastures, a gompa, a cheese factory and a 5000 meter high view point.
But which of these two is the better one? Which one would you chose if you had to?

We compare the Annapurna Base Camp Trek vs. the Langtang Valley Trek in depth, taking into account the usual duration of the treks, transportation to the trek and back, the permits needed, the situation concerning guides and costs, the maximum altitude you reach on the trek, difficulty of the trails, safety while hiking, remoteness and sense of adventure, accommodation standards in the area, cultural sights, authenticity of the villages along the way (as opposed to pure tourists/hotel settlements) and the diverse landscapes you will experience.
In the end we will try to summarize and rather than just declaring one of the two treks better for whatever reason, we will try to suggest which certain "types" of trekkers might enjoy either of the two treks more or less than the other and for what reasons.

Our goal is to give you a good idea about all aspects of both the ABC Trek and the Langtang Trek and enable you to make your own guess about which one is the better one week tea house trek for you.

We did our Langtang Valley Trek (along with the Tamang Heritage Trail, the Gosainkund Trek and the Helambu Trek - trek reports on all of them are on our channel) in November 2018 and we did our Annapurna Base Camp Trek (along with the Mardi Himal Trek and the Kopra Danda Trek via Muldai view point - trek reports on all of them are on our channel) in November of 2022.
