Despite what you may think about large companies, BMW North America actually listens to your feedback. And from that feedback, one of the most common misunderstandings is the operation of the kick to open tailgate.

Today, we’re going to be demonstrating it on this beautiful 2021 BMW X5 in Arctic White over Canberra Beige.

To operate to the kick to open tailgate, you have to have the key in the vicinity: in your pocket, your purse or however you hold it. Then, you line yourself up centrally with the BMW logo, kick straight in and kick straight out.

Viola! It’s open.

Now what you don’t want to do is keep ypur foot underneath, wave it around or try to find the sensor, that will confuse it. I did it when i got my kick to open trunk to be honest with you.

In order to close the kick to open tailgate, all you have to do is the same thing: leg straight in and straight out.
