Á Sprengisandi is an Icelandic song written by Grímur Thomsen (1820 - 1896) which takes its name from Sprengisandur, an Icelandic roadcrosses the central desert.
In the song a rider asks his horse to run faster because he feels unsafe in the desert which is frequented by elves.
