A Super Outbreak of 148 tornadoes was confirmed in 13 states on April 3-4, 1974. It remains one of the worst tornado outbreaks in United States history.
Ten states declared federal disaster areas after the storms surged through.
There we 26 tornadoes in Kentucky alone. The storm killed dozens, injured hundreds and caused millions of dollars in damages.
