To pump a thicker fluid, a higher pressure must be used. The main purpose of blood pressure is to get blood to the top of the brain. Excess dietary sodium raises blood pressure, because it inhibits endothelial nitric oxide. Conversely, more dietary potassium and magnesium are protective. The ratio of potassium to sodium is important. Richard Moore MD, Phd recommends to keep the ratio of K:Na at least 5:1. Our ancestors likely had it about 25:1. Plants have lots of potassium. Other beneficial items are to obtain adequate sleep, avoid caffeine, avoid excess psychological stress.
