The 18th Gemunu Regiment of the 641st Brigade commanded by Lt. Col. Indrajit Bandara of Task Force Four of Col. Nishantha Wanniarachchi captured this fuel distribution centre. It is located close to the Puthukudiyiruppu town and nearly 600 metres off the A-35 Road. The three acre area was a high security zone fortified with barbwire. It was connected with 13 underground tanks. The subsidies provided by the Government to the civilians had been acquired and stocked in the underground storages. The innocent people had been deprived of oil in this manner. The fuel was brought to the distribution centre from clandestine storages via underground pipelines.
