Some time ago I bought some Cassette on a fleamarket for a bargain price.
It consisted of a pack of 3 TDK D60's and some other TDK tapes from different era's. They where quite cheap, and about 2 years later I decided to record someting on one of these tapes. I picked the TDK D60 and aside from it's retro looks, I was quite impressed by the sound of these Ferro (Type 1) casettes from circa. 1982 (according to the packaging). It's a version of the D60 that was sold in the early to mid 80's.
I recorded a recent Korg Gadget project that I made straight from my iPad to the tape using my Technics RS-M205 casette deck. The tape recording was later recorded into my PC with Cubase and a Steinberg UR 242 interface.
The version on the tape is the raw, unmixed version, in the video I'll also show the mixed from in Cubase. I will also do a dynamic range comparison with the Youlean loudness meter to see how the different versions compare.
