Are you ready to celebrate the Lunar New Year? What better way to celebrate the Year of the Tiger than by making some awesome art!!?
This art lesson is called Tea Stained tiger! That is because not only will we be drawing a super cute chinese Tiger but we will be painting with something that originated in China; TEA!!! CORRECTION from video: It celebrated on FEBRUARY 1st this year (not the 12th as I stated :) TYPO) lol
We will learn and talk a little bit about China and Chinese New Year. Do you celebrate Chinese New year? If so, I would love to hear what kind of traditions and things that you do to celebrate! I love reading about the Chinese Zodiac and the character traits for each animal. Tigers born in this 12 year cycle are adventurous and represent justice and courage. I was born in the year of the Monkey- what Chinese Zodiac animal are you??
We're also going to talk a little bit about TEA! It is one of my favorite drinks- HOT or cold.
Then we are going to draw our own Lunar New Year tiger.
This is a MIXED media art lesson so besides painting with tea we will be using pencil, thick drawing paper and either markers or oil pastels.
So hop in and let's FLY TO CHINA!!!!!
