An NSPCC Learning expert insights series on the NSPCC Helpline domestic abuse project.
The project sought to extend the capacity of the helpline to support contacts who have experienced domestic abuse. In 2023/24 alone, our Domestic Abuse Practice Advisor team provided specialist advice in response to 819 Helpline contacts and acted as advocates for 60 women experiencing domestic abuse.
In this video, experts from the NSPCC discuss the significance of changes introduced in England and Wales by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, the importance of taking a child-centred approach , recognising the signs that a child might be experiencing domestic abuse, and the importance of working effectively with other agencies to respond to concerns.
