Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark first debuted in 2017 as part of the Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party and is a thrilling nighttime version of the original Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! ride. This seasonal overlay takes place after the events of the main attraction, where guests help Rocket rescue Groot, who has been left behind in the fortress of the Collector. With the fortress overrun by terrifying monsters, guests must navigate a chaotic escape while fending off these creatures, all to the beat of a special Halloween-themed Monster After Dark rock soundtrack
The ride is located in Avengers Campus and originally opened as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror on May 5, 2004. In 2017, the attraction was reimagined into Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! to fit in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This transformation brought new life to the ride, with a storyline centered around helping the Guardians escape the Collector's fortress. During Oogie Boogie Bash, the attraction becomes Monsters After Dark, giving guests a Halloween-exclusive adventure filled with scares and action

The queue for Monsters After Dark is filled with eerie lighting and nods to the Guardians’ universe. As you wait to board your drop ride, you’ll hear warnings about the loose monsters and see unsettling scenes that set the tone for the thrilling ride ahead. Once onboard, guests race against time to save Groot, all while facing terrifying creatures in a ride sequence that’s completely different from the Mission Breakout version.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark is one of several attractions at Disney California Adventure Park that receive a spooky makeover for the Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party. This special ticketed event transforms the park with treat trails and villain encounters creating a fun and eerie atmosphere for guests of all ages. Over at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Halloween fans can enjoy Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom, offering family-friendly Halloween fun with trick-or-treating, parades, and exclusive character meet-and-greets.
Avengers Campus, where Monsters After Dark takes place, is a Marvel-themed land at Disney California Adventure Park that immerses guests in the world of the Avengers, featuring attractions, character encounters, and interactive experiences inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Opened in June 2021, Avengers Campus offers guests the chance to step into the action alongside their favorite Marvel heroes.
Disney California Adventure Park is one of the two theme parks at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The park opened on February 8, 2001, and is themed around the history and culture of California, offering a variety of attractions, entertainment, and dining experiences inspired by the Golden State.
