Did a search for pacifism
Guess I should have searched for war
When I finally did
I found what I was looking for
Ephesus who left her first love
A painted lady dressed in red
Whatever happened to the peace church?
And who's that lyin' in her bed?
She used to tell me about Jesus
So that I'd know what He would do
And how He loved all of his children
Black, white, brown, yellow, red and blue
Now she sings her praise to Caesar
And I wonder what went wrong
Whatever happened to the peace church?
Who changed the lyrics to her song?
She used to tell me about Jesus
So that I'd know what He would do
And how God loves all of his children
Black, white, brown, yellow, red and blue
Ephesus who left her first love
Painted lady dressed in red
Whatever happened to the peace church?
And who's that lyin' in her bed?
Whatever happened to the peace church?......
And who's that lyin' in her bed?

"We, as a body of Christians, while purposing to fulfill all the obligations of loyal citizenship, are nevertheless constrained to declare we cannot conscientiously participate in war and armed resistance which involves the actual destruction of human life, since this is contrary to our view of the clear teachings of the inspired Word of God, which is the sole basis of our faith." - Official Assembly of God statement on pacifism prior to 1967
