Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the Republic of Serbia has received favorable responses from overseas Chinese.
Xi has been warmly received in the Republic of Serbia during his first state visit to the country starting from Friday.
Chinese and Serbian national flags were strung over the streets of Belgrade, capital city of the Balkan country.
Reports on Xi's Serbian visit have hit the headlines on media outlets, arousing favorable responses from local residents and Chinese residing in Belgrade.
Coinciding with Xi's visit was the opening of the ceremonious China-Serbia Culture Week, with Chinese flags and red lanterns hanging everywhere, making the occasion especially festive and jubilant.
"Today is a red-letter day. This is the first visit by a Chinese president to Serbia in more than three decades. It is, therefore, of great and special significance to our Chinese residing here, China-funded institutions and cultural organizations including the Confucius Institute at University of Novi Sad," said Zhao Youhua, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at University of Novi Sad.
Chinese living in Serbia for decades felt proud of China's unprecedentedly rapid development as an Asian powerhouse.
"The great national strength has made up proud. And we are excited to see President Xi warmly welcomed and received by people from all walks of life in Serbia," said Shen Hong, a Serbia-residing Chinese.
Xi's Serbian journey has had a big impact on the whole Balkan region. The national flags of the two countries hanging outside all China-funded enterprises have added to the beauty of the landscape of Belgrade.
"The Chinese President is a good friend of Serbia. We are very pleased that he has come to visit us," said Ivana Dinic, an employee at the office of the China National Machinery Industry Corporation in Serbia. More on: [ Ссылка ]
