After i sharpend the edge a bit I cut some stuff with this blade and all in all, it is a solid cutter. The Shashka is nible and allows fast cuts from any position.
Although you have to keep in mind that while test cutting, you have time to think where you want to hit, you can telegraph your cuts and you dont have to move in angels to avoid the opponents actions.
What is my fazit?
A good and nice looking blade with a lot of good details. It feels good and it cuts well. But as many good details there are, you find some flaws which I dont want to see on a blade with this price sector. there are good alternatives out there like antique ones, Kizlyar Knives or PesereyHandicrafts just to name a few. There are more small businesses where you can get a good Shashka from for less money.
The hanwei shashka is a beautiful and functunal saber, but in my eyes with a too high price.
In a couple of weeks I will go to cut some Tatamimatts with it and i will release a more detailed video on Testcuttings and tameshigiri in general.
