While opening the studios this year my projector broke, so I couldn't project my videos for the whole class to see at the same time. Instead students used individual Chrombooks. For cardboard sculpture and for paint I definitely prefer the whole class working on the same skill at the same time, and my being able to pause and start the video for everyone. Sometimes I use a timer for each skill, sometimes I have them change tables for each skill, and so on. THE SILVER LINING TO THE PROJECTOR DEBACLE: Opening FIBER ARTS was DEFINITELY BETTER with each student using their own computer and being able to go at their own pace and pause and continue as necessary. This way they could see the close-up shots of my hands threading the needle, knotting and stitching. So from now on, projector working or not, it will be something kids do with 1-1 Chrombooks.
