Have you ever wondered how tightly you should be squeezing your racket on your ground strokes?
In this video's well take a look at Novaks forehand to answer this questions.
There is a misconception by many beginner and intermediate players that you need to be squeezing tightly. Sometimes this is a conscious thought but also it can be unconscious as well.
If the ball is coming faster then we like or if we are in any type of environment where we feel challenged. Its very intuitive to want go squeeze. It's our body's natural response to fight or flight.
We have to condition ourselves, (this is where the skill development comes in), to create a sense of calm and relaxation when we are stressed or pressed to execute our ability to stay loose and fluid.
