Man’s dreams for reaching Mars might have to wait a little longer! SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has announced that the Starship rocket is close to being ready to go orbital. However, the rocket’s launch now depends on the Federal Aviation Administration, which will not issue the vehicle permission to fly until an environmental assessment is complete. If the FAA process demanded further investigations, then the Starship’s launch could be delayed by many months with flight operations having to be shifted to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida where a second launch pad for the rocket is currently under construction.

The first orbital launch of SpaceX's Starship Mars rocket has been pushed back by at least another month. SpaceX aims to launch that milestone test mission shortly after the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration wraps up an environmental assessment of Starbase, the South Texas site where the company builds, tests, and launches Starship vehicles.
That review was initially supposed to be done earlier, but a few days before the deadline, the FAA pushed the estimated completion date ahead, citing the need to consult further with other agencies and review the thousands of public comments submitted in response to the draft assessment, which was released in September.
The first orbital test of SpaceX's Starship rocket has been delayed again after the Federal Aviation Administration pushed back an environmental review. Elon Musk recently confirmed the plan was for the first orbital test flight of Starship soon after the review had been completed - originally set for February 28. The FAA announced it was extending the target date for completion of its environmental review, of the launch site in Boca Chica, Texas, until March 28, which means that the test flight is likely to be pushed into April or later.
