Will GPT-5 meet Ph.D.-level expectations? Share your thoughts in the comments.
OpenAI has announced that the release of its highly anticipated GPT-5 has been delayed to late 2025 or early 2026. According to OpenAI's CTO, Mira Murati, GPT-5 will represent a significant leap in intelligence, reaching a "Ph.D. intelligence" level for specific tasks. This advancement is expected to bring enhanced memory and reasoning capabilities, making GPT-5 vastly superior to its predecessors, GPT-3 and GPT-4. However, Murati noted that this advanced intelligence will be task-specific, meaning GPT-5 will excel in certain areas while still lagging behind in others.
