In 1979 we set off on a "round-the-world" trip. Our air tickets, originally from Toronto to Singapore, had been extended to London with stops in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Bangkok, Colombo. We knew we had to return to Canada but we still had a few weeks to enjoy Sri Lanka. These photos were taken using a Konica point and shoot camera on Kodachrome slide film. They haven't been seen much in the last 40 years. It was a pandemic project to scan all the slides and make videos.
We landed in Colombo and took the train to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Tooth and see the Royal Botanic Gardens. From there we went to Nuwara Eliya and then on to the beach Arugum Bay. Further south we saw the wild elephants of Kumana National Park. From Arugum Bay we went on to the ruins of Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, and Anuradhapura. From there we returned to Colombo and flew on to London.
