SITECH Solutions’ Christo Ferreira captured some great footage recently while with Pete Vagne Excavations out on site on Mowamba Way in Moonbah, NSW.
Pete Vagne Excavations is using Trimble Earthworks 2D with a laser catcher on their Kobelco SK140LC.
The laser catcher is a sensor on the machine that reads the laser plane which provides the machine with the benchmark height to work to as the machine moves.

The system helps operators to accurately maintain designed grade and makes reaching desired grade or depth easy, even on undulating ground.
The system also allows quick relocations and keeps grade checkers away from working equipment and out of excavations.
There is no need to grade stake after each move. Last control enables you to bench to a known elevation once and to continue working without re-benching every time you move the machine.
Even on uneven terrain, you can be confident you’re on grade.
