Here is my sticky note for Chapter 6 section 3:
-Greco-Roman definition = a combination of Greek, Roman and Hellenistic achievements
-Virgil's epic poem the AENIED was written, in part, to bolster Roman patriotism; recalling their heroic past
-Satire or making fun of those in power or society as a whole came from Horace, Juvenal and Martial (who's satire was so biting he needed to use a fake name to maintain his safety)
-Aqueducts and baths were not only the source of fresh mountain water but a counterpoint of city culture
-Ptolemy stated that the earth was the center of the universe. This belief persisted for 1500 years
-Roman Justice was stern and required evidence "clearer than daylight" to convict an individual as guilty
Always remember,
Context is Everything
