Chinese Coast Guard Hijacks Taiwanese Fishing Boat: Dramatic Rescue Attempt!
Taiwan has demanded the release of a Taiwanese fishing vessel, Tachinman 88, which was boarded by China's coast guard and redirected to a mainland port. The incident occurred near the Kinmen archipelago, a Taiwan-controlled area close to China's coast. Taiwan sent rescue vessels, but they were blocked by Chinese boats and called off the pursuit to avoid further conflict as more Chinese vessels approached. Taiwan's coast guard urged China to avoid political manipulation and release the ship and its six crew members, including the captain and five migrant workers. The vessel was intercepted about 20 kilometers from Jinjiang, China. This incident underscores ongoing tensions, as China claims Taiwan as its territory and frequently sends military assets near the island. Increased activity by Chinese vessels in the waters near Kinmen has heightened tensions in the region.
