NATO TURNS 75
Today, NATO is celebrating its 75th birthday. NATO stands for the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. It's a military alliance, the largest in the world in fact, and these countries are all a part of it. It was formed way back in 1949 when the world was still recovering from the Second World War. New tensions were brewing between The US, its Western European allies and the Soviet Union, a collection of Communist states. Western countries were worried about the spread of Communism, so they formed an alliance to protect what they saw as their shared values and created NATO. They agreed that if one member was attacked, the others would defend them. Things have changed a lot since then. NATO has grown from 12 members to 32 and while the Soviet Union no longer exists, NATO is still around and says its focus is still on making sure its members stay safe & free. A big part of that is meeting for big summits like the one going on today in the US and discussing security issues like Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Now Australia isn't a member of NATO because we're nowhere near the North Atlantic, but we are considered an important partner which is why we've been sending Aussie politicians to these big events since 2022.

16 YEAR OLD SCORES AT EUROS
Spain is heading to the Euros Championship Final! The first semi-final wrapped up this morning with Spain coming from behind to defeat France 2 - 1. 16 year old Lamine Yamal scored the first goal for the victors, making him the youngest goal scorer in Euros history! Spain is chasing a record fourth Euros title and will either face England or the Netherlands, who play off tomorrow.

DEADLY DREAMING
Now, let's head over to Perth, where First Nations students have been taking part in some unique workshops called Deadly Dreaming. Well, these students from Presbyterian Ladies' College in Perth are setting some big life goals. This is a part of the Deadly Dreaming program which teaches Aboriginal students about things like racism, stereotypes, and how to break down barriers that can make them feel isolated. Deadly Dreaming has already helped many young people like Dylan here, and the hope is that many more young Aboriginal students will also feel inspired to chase their biggest dreams.

BRITISH EXPLORER
First up, to British explorer Oli France. He's just completed a huge journey across the US, starting at the hot and sweltery Death Valley and winding up on the top of Mount Denali in Alaska. It took him 64 days to travel a more than 5 and a half thousand kays, on foot, by bike, and skis.

PUMPKIN SCULPTURE
Now to Kensington Gardens in London. Where people have flocked from far and wide to gaze upon this humongous pumpkin that's recently popped up. It was made by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, who's known for her pumpkin sculptures covered in dots, but this one is her biggest yet.

JOHN LENNON TREASURE HUNT
And finally to Liverpool, where a treasure hunt is underway for fans of music legend John Lennon. Scattered around town are a bunch of hidden QR codes for people to scan, with the winner being the first person to find and scan them all.
