Dr Nazmul Hussain, a GP from Wordsworth Health Centre, shares his own experience of quality improvement and the role it has within General Practice. By using Quality Improvement methods, healthcare is becoming safer and more efficient, effective and patient centered. Key to this is engaging patients to help to understand what the actual issues are and then working with them to come up with realistic, tangible solutions. Once a framework has been created, this process can be replicated and shared across local practices and even regionally. The most important outcome is good quality care for patients, which quality improvement projects help to achieve.
