October 2019—Supporters of the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in cities across Iran are marking the election anniversary of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi as President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi presided over a meeting back in 1993 that resulted in the election of Mrs. Rajavi as the NCRI President-elect for the transition period after the regime’s overthrow to oversee the process of transferring power to the Iranian people and hold elections for a new parliament and thus president of the new republic. Members of Resistance Units inside Iran have been busy putting up images of Maryam Rajavi in cities across the country in a vast display of this organization’s massive network and the scope of support it enjoys among the Iranian people.
It is worth noting that any support for the PMOI/MEK inside Iran is considered punishable by death by the mullahs’ judiciary. Back in June 2014, Gholamreza Khosravi, a PMOI/MEK supporter, was arrested and executed merely for sending a small financial donation to a satellite TV network affiliated to the PMOI/MEK. “Gholamreza Khosravi Savadjani was arrested in 2008 in Rafsanjan, Kerman Province, in
connection with his alleged support of the pro-PMOI (People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran) TV station Sima-ye Azadi (Voice of Freedom),” according to Amnesty International.
In Tehran, resistance unit members put up a large Maryam Rajavi poster from a pedestrian bridge with a line reading, “Iran – Maryam – Freedom.”
Also in Tehran, another large Maryam Rajavi poster was put up with a line reading, “Our choice is Maryam Rajavi.”
A third Maryam Rajavi poster in the Iranian capital has a line reading, “We can and we must launch a thousand ‘Ashrafs’ and a thousand resistance units!”
Another Maryam Rajavi poster in Tehran has a line encouraging Iran’s youths to join resistance units.
In the city of Nowshahr, northern Iran, resistance unit members put up a Maryam Rajavi poster reading, “Democracy, freedom, with Maryam Rajavi.”
In Urmia, northwest Iran, a Maryam Rajavi poster read, “Uprisings will continue to overthrow the mullahs’ regime.”
In Mashhad, northeast Iran, a Maryam Rajavi poster read, “The country’s youth are encouraged to join resistance units.”
In Ardabil, northwest Iran, a Maryam Rajavi poster marked this occasion.
