Each year, the Annual Tourism Industry Achievement Awards pay tribute to the determined efforts of those who use their skills, resourcefulness, creativity and innovative spirit to help create a better life for all Oregonians. Award categories included a rising star from each tourism region, outstanding work in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion, outstanding leadership and strong partnerships.
Last December, in collaboration with the creative teams at North, Prosper Portland, Downtown Portland, Travel Portland and others, the Portland Business Alliance led the creation of a special initiative that calls on all Portlanders to help the Rose City bounce back from the unprecedented economic and pandemic setbacks of 2020. The “Here for Portland” campaign launched with a video featuring a diverse chorus of Portlanders representing the cross-section of creative, innovative and distinct voices that make our city the place we are all proud to call home. From small business celebrities, to pro athletes, and internationally renowned musicians and authors, the video features people who are interwoven into the fabric of Portland. The campaign was propelled by leveraging unique partnerships – like the special edition Timbers and Thorns scarves that literally sold out the day they were released -- that allowed Portlanders to show their hometown pride while supporting the local economy and the businesses impacted by the challenges of 2020.
