There has been a surge in demand for outbound travel from China, with numbers far surpassing that of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. However, hurdles remain on the supply side, in the form of foreign visa applications and plane capacities. The tourism industry has received a boost as the world emerges from the pandemic, especially because people are more appreciative of the ability to travel abroad freely, says Ms Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group, China's largest online travel provider.
