-Calle Preciados! The price of rent per square meter on Calle Preciados is the highest in Spain. That’s no wonder, mostly because it’s bang in the centre of Madrid, running between the Puerta del Sol and the Plaza de Santo Domingo, via the Plaza de Callao. These are all pedestrianized spaces, as is the parallel Calle del Carmen, and foot traffic is always heavy.
-For over 30 years now, the large El Corte Inglés department chain has been delighting children with a wonderful show on the façade of its building on Calle Maestro Victoria (next to Preciados).
Each year, the 15-minute show, which takes place various times a day, has a different theme but always features gigantic puppets singing Christmas carols and songs.
-Calle Arenal is a pedestrian and traffic-free zone (zona peatonal) for most of its length, the Calle del Arenal is one of the 10 streets emanating from the Puerta del Sol Square.
-The Plaza Mayor is a major public space in the heart of Madrid, the capital of Spain. It was once the center of Old Madrid. It was first built during the reign of Philip III. Only a few blocks away is another famous plaza, the Puerta del Sol.
Organized by the Plaza Mayor Christmas Market Association, this hundred-year-old fair is one of the city’s most beloved traditions. The 104 stalls run by individual vendors sell Christmas favorites: figurines to make your own nativity scenes, Christmas decorations and gag gifts.
