Golf Tourism internationally is valued at US $20 Billion with over 50 million golf tourist traveling the world to play on some of the estimated 36,000 courses.
IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) reports that 30 per cent of all golfers take annual golf holidays and that there are 63 million golfing holidays taken annually.
Malaysia has almost 200 golf courses for a country with a total land area of only 330,000 sq.km. With a huge community of golf enthusiasts, international golf tournament of all levels abound in Malaysia. Malaysia boasts of having hosted events such as "The Malaysian Open" and the "Volvo Maters of Asia".
This week Business Circle talks to Evelyn Gruber, President of Golf Travel Consulting Inc. on the possibilities available for Malaysia through Golf Tourism. Evelyn has over 20 years in international golf tourism and has played on around 2000 golf courses around the globe.
Evelyn currently travels the world as a consultant and also manages Golf Tour Operations in the U.S.A. Evelyn also has a success record in more than 20 destinations in Europe, Asia and in the U.S.A.
