South Africa's rand hit a two-month low against the dollar and government bonds weakened sharply after a newspaper reports alleged that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan faces arrest. The government, police and the presidency have all dismissed these reports, which state that Gordhan could be arrested over incidents related to the activities of a spy unit formed when he headed the tax revenue agency. The rand hit 15.68 per dollar before trading in Johannesburg opened, its weakest level since mid-March.
