Chinese Game "Black Myth: Wukong" Stirs Row over "Feminist Propaganda," COVID-19 | Firstpost America
China's latest and instant video game hit "Black Myth: Wukong" has stirred a massive controversy abroad. Launched by Game Science, the single-player action game is based on the 16th-century classic Chinese novel "Journey to the West." It was first announced in 2020, and after four years of anticipation, the game has taken over the world of livestreams. However, in the run-up to its release, the co-publisher of the game, Hero Games, sent a document to popular gaming influencers, warning them against discussing Chinese politics, news, fetishization, nudity, violence, and "feminist propaganda". They were also warned against trigger words such as COVID-19, quarantine, and isolation. This sparked a debate online with some welcoming the decision against "gaming wokeness", while others calling it a lack of diversity.
