Our guest on the October 31, 2021 edition of Black Canada Talking™ was Doug Minter.
Experienced professional in Business Development, Operational Leadership, Innovation and strategy, and with a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organization management within the Chamber of Commerce industry (13 years) in both the USA & Canada. Strong sales professional skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, Negotiation, Government Procurement, Budgeting, and Business Planning.
He served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps (Desert Storm Veteran) as a combat engineer as well as three years with the US Forestry Department as an initial attach firefighter. His time as a serial entrepreneur combined with his public service has prepared him as a leader during turbulent times and change.
Minter owned the largest black owned independent insurance agency in the State of Tn which he sold in 2008 prior to entering the Chamber of Commerce profession. As a serial entrepreneur he also started one of the first Valet Parking firms in East Tennessee. As a chamber of commerce executive, he served as chair of the Diversity Division of Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives for 5 years.
Recently he has adapted his skillsets to focus on ecosystem development and entrepreneurial programming. as founder of the Propel Mentor-Protege program and the Propel Mastermind program, I have been able to counsel over 1500 entrepreneurs and create over 100 million in economic development and over 1000 jobs. He is now a management consultant for the Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce and is chair of the Entrepreneurship Sub-committee for the Mentorship & Sponsorship Committee for the Black North Initiative.
