Typically, when you shop for RAM on a site such as Newegg or TigerDirect, the guided search/browsing will lead you to the correct RAM for your desktop PC or server... on sites like eBay, server RAM can easily be mistaken for Desktop RAM. Although the memory modules may look alike, there's some major differences between the two. There's unbuffered and buffered modules, and modules without ECC and modules with ECC. Always make sure you are getting the correct RAM for your system!
