Kevin Costner and Jewel have apparently come this far

Rumors of a romance between Jewel and Kevin Costner surfaced lately after they were seen cuddling during a tennis charity in the Caribbean during Thanksgiving weekend.

The 49-year-old singer-songwriter and the 68-year-old actor were seen interacting. Held on Richard Branson's Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, the event supported Jewel's nonprofit, the Inspiring Children Foundation.

"Jewel and Kevin's relationship is new, but it's not brand new," an insider told People this week. "There is very big attraction on both sides."

The "You Were Meant For Me" hitmaker is independent and doesn't go on dates for the sake of going on dates, the insider revealed.

"Jewel likes Kevin’s type, and Kevin likes to be in a relationship, so this is cool," said a source. "After his acrimonious divorce, he is enjoying himself. He's relieved that's over."

After 18 years of marriage, Costner and Christine Baumgartner formalized their divorce in September. The former couple, who had a daughter named Grace, 13, and sons Cayden, 16, and Hayes, 14, agreed to a settlement shortly before they were scheduled to return to court to determine who would pay Baumgartner's almost $1 million in legal bills.

Cindy Silva and the "Yellowstone" singer were previously wed from 1978 till 1994. Joe, 35, and his sisters Annie, 39, and Lily, 37, are the children of Costner and Silva. Bridget Rooney and Costner's 26-year-old son Liam are also parents.

Kase, 12, is Jewel's son from her previous marriage to Ty Murray.

Costner and Jewel have known one another "for years," according to a source who spoke with Us Weekly earlier this week. They have also been "quietly dating for some time now."

"Kevin and Jewel had an extremely high opinion of each other and have always gotten along great," said a source. "They check a lot of boxes for each other."

The insider informed the outlet that the two's relationship developed "organically" as a result of their mutual appreciation of music.

"He’s really into his [band, Modern West], and singing, and she’s very much a part of that country and western world," according to a source. "Some of their mutual friends joke how it’s surprising they didn’t get together years ago."

The insider clarified, though, that in light of Costner and Baumgarter's breakup, the couple is not hurrying their relationship.

The insider claimed that there was no expectation pressure present. "She and Kevin both want to follow the current without question. However, everyone agrees that Jewel is a true keeper and that this has the potential to be something truly spectacular."

Jewel and Costner have not yet responded to reports of their affair in public. The actor from "Dances With Wolves" posted a picture of himself on Instagram on Tuesday, showing him at a table in a hotel room with an ocean view.

The caption said, "Perfect little writing staycation at the wonderful Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica," and was posted by Costner.

The Academy Award winner's attention has been on his next project, "Horizon: An American Saga." Warner Bros. has revealed that the first installment of the four-part epic Western, which stars Costner, was directed, co-written, produced, and released on June 28, 2024. Costner has been working on "Horizon: An American Saga" for more than 30 years as a side project.

His departure from "Yellowstone," which will premiere the second half of its fifth and last season in November 2024, was mostly influenced by the series.

Since her initial meteoric rise to prominence in the mid-1990s, Jewel has maintained a comparatively low profile.
