Acute bronchitis can have antibiotics as the treatment but acute bronchitis may not need antibiotics also because there are lot of conditions which can cause acute bronchitis. Even allergies can cause bronchitis. But under what condition the patient is seen decides the use of the antibiotics and it is a short course of treatment in acute bronchitis. By definition this chronic bronchitis recurs very often even when you treat it with antibiotics.
