Alocasia propagation method 1 🙂 ⠀

Have you heard some people waiting for roots to grow for months? And others get them in 2 weeks? Rooting time will depend on each person's environment - light, room temperature, water/soil temperature, amount of oxygen in water/soil, humidity...⠀

Increased light (natural or grow light), an air pump and a heat mat will dramatically increase chances of successful propagation and reduce propagation time:⠀
⠀
➡️ You can do soil or water propagation⠀
➡️ Sterilize your knife before cutting, to reduce chances of infection. My stem cutting was fine, but the remaining part of the stem in soil seems to have gotten infected. I haven't had this happen in years, but it is best practise to sterilize cutting tools.⠀
➡️ You have to be careful with this propagation method though. You could end up killing the potted plant. If your plant only had one stem, now it will be left with no leaves, meaning it will be using water from the soil much slower, so you need to reduce the watering amount and frequency. Otherwise what could happen is that the soil stays moist for too long after watering, leading to root rot. ⠀
