About 10 kilometers from the Brazilian city of Manaus, the black river Rio Negro flows into the sandy waters of the Amazon. The most amazing thing is that the waters of the two rivers do not mix, but continue flowing side by side for about six kilometers. Locals call this place Encontro das Águas, which means "meeting of the waters" in Portuguese. Such a phenomenon can be observed in other parts of the world, but here is the most picturesque picture on Earth.
The Rio Negro is the largest left tributary of the Amazon and the largest black river in the world. Its name is translated as "black river. The unusual color of the water is due to the vegetation that enters the stream as the river flows through the rainforest and swamps. The waters of the Amazon are thick with sand, causing the river to have a brown hue. The rivers do not mix for so long because they are completely different. Thus, the Amazon is fast, cool and dense, while the Rio Negro is slow and warm. Once you put your hand down, you can feel this difference in temperature.
