I try a side by side taste test of American Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) and Asian Persimmon (Diospyros kaki). Asian Persimmon cultivar is Hachiya an astringent variety.
If you live in a climate too cold to grow Asian Persimmons. Anywhere it goes very far below the freezing point of water -15C or 5 degrees F - American persimmons are an excellent fruit tree to grow. They have very few disease or insect pests and are widely adaptable. American Persimmons can easily tolerate -37 C or -25F.
