❓How does Printful work
Printful is your go-to partner for turning your ideas into brands and products. Printful handles everything from production to shipping, allowing you to focus on growing your business. Whether Printful is your side hustle, a tool for brand expansion, or your main gig, understanding your profit margins is crucial. Setting appropriate retail prices is key to ensuring profitability.
👕 What’s your product’s retail price
Your retail price is what your customers pay for your product. The difference between your retail price and Printful’s fulfillment cost equals your profit. For instance, if Printful charges $15 to fulfill a t-shirt and your retail price is $25, your profit is $10. Your retail price should cover production costs and desired earnings to ensure profitability.
📋 What are the costs to consider when setting your retail prices
Brick-and-mortar shops usually need retail prices to cover expenses like rent, utilities, and restocking inventory. Print-on-demand stores have different costs, especially if you’re managing your brand by yourself.
Before selling your print-on-demand products, consider potential extra costs: fees for your ecommerce platform or product listings, design expenses, paid advertising, and taxes. Taking these costs into account upfront helps you plan the budget of your online business effectively.
🏷️ How to set your estimated profits on the Printful website
From your Printful Dashboard, head to Product templates or My products, where your designs are stored. To price your products, you’ll need to push them to your store. Click Add to store, choose your store, and navigate through the Design, Mockups, and Details steps. In the Product pricing step, you’ll find columns for Printful price (the cost to fulfill the product), Retail price, and Estimated earnings (your profit margin). Adjust the retail price based on your desired profit margin. Once you’re finished, click Save product.
