"If you're looking for an entry into a Vintage Japanese Les Paul, this is it.
Gallan was a brand of Kyowa and this model features a set neck construction with a standard tenon (this is NOT a bolt on). It weighs in at 4.1kg.
As you can see in the pictures, this vintage Les Paul is a really well preserved player's grade - i have left the surface rusted bolts - they work fine - but have replaced the back plate and switch plate screws with new black ones (i lost the originals during the resto). The binding and hard plastics have yellowed over its 40+ years.
The finish is in good condition, with a few light scratches - the most notable is a chip repair at the bottom left right on the edge of the binding. Visible in the 3rd pic
I have leveled, crowned and polished the frets. I re-set the nut slots, filed down and have set up to a 2mm action. It's playing really nicely now.
Pickups are original. I did have to rebuild the harness - so have added new 500k full sized pots (it came with mini pots), insulated cloth wire and NOS vintage PIO Russian .022 Caps. It's a 50s style harness.
It's chunky but not overly cumbersome - measuring 43mm at the nut and 52mm at the 12th.
