This video showcases a collection of clips shot during the month of January. This month was a crazy month mostly because CN decided to throw more or less their entire roster of cool stuff into Washington. Anyway, these clips were taken in Everett and places around Everett. Here are the trains in order:
0:00 M-EVESUM(Manifest from Everett, WA to Sumas, WA): Led by BNSF 3009, still in BN green, and a few other GPs
4:21 V-NTWTAC(Vehicle Extra from Northtown, MN to Tacoma, WA): A surprise extra, this train features a rainbow consist of railroads with BNSF, CSX, CP, and KCS being featured. Also seen is an empty coal train which featured a Ferromex ACe as the DPU.
10:33 U-EPPAWA(Loaded Oil from Epping, ND to Arco(Custer, WA)): This train featured CN power along with BCOL 4644, one of only two BCOL C44-9WLs active. The unit would run the oil loop a few more times before being removed.
12:18 H-VBTVAW(High-Priority Manifest from CN Thornton Yard in Vancouver, BC to Vancouver, WA): Seen departing Bayside Yard on a brisk morning, this train features CP 7014, one of their script heritage SD70ACu's.
17:46 H-LYDVBT(High-Priority Manifest from UP Lake Yard in Portland, OR to CN Thornton Yard in Vancouver, BC): My first time trying this spot, this train had a neat consist with a fresh Tier 4 2nd and a BNSF Bonnet 3rd.
21:48 H-INBVBC(High-Priority Manifest from Interbay(Seattle, WA) to Vancouver, BC): Tried this spot while searching for angles on Bridge 37, this train also features a fun consist. BNSF 2879 was actually added onto the train at Bayside Yard. VITX 1030, the tarped unit, is apparently a switch unit which was headed to Vancouver to work on a grain terminal.
24:22 X-PTLVBT(Empty Grain from Portland, OR to CN Thornton Yard in Vancouver, BC): While the symbol says empty grain, it's actually an empty animal feed train. The trains origin is actually California on the UP, and was handed to BNSF at Portland, hence the run-through UP power. We would catch this train entering Bayside and then again going through Marysville after crew change.
28:04 Next is a shot at Lowell featuring two trains. The train in the foreground is an empty oil, U-AWAEPP which kept the same CN power we saw earlier including BCOL 4644. The train in the background was an empty coal train being led by BNSF 5869, one of BNSF's new at the time 25th Anniversary locomotives.
28:25 X-PTLVBT: This is the first video I recorded with my new Lumix FZ1000. We catch another one of these X-Trains this time featuring a CN Dash-8 duo. In the time of PTC this is an extremely rare pair and extremely surprising to see led a train without PTC. Even more surprising is that these D8s led the train all the way from California. Unfortunately, a new leader would be placed on the train at Bayside. The leader is CN 2170, an Ex-ATSF Dash-8 featuring a fouled RS3L, we get to hear a bit of that. The second unit is CN 2402, a C40-8M locomotive or "Barn", "Cowl, "Draper Taper", whatever you want, featured in the Zebra paint. This was one of about 5 barns that visited Washington in the month of January the others being 2425, 2431, 2432, and BCOL 4623.
30:32 C-SXMRBG(Loaded Coal from Spring Creek Mine, MT to Roberts Bank, BC): My first time being to Mukilteo in awhile, this was filmed on the fly with my camcorder, so I didn't have my tripod, hence the shot from the ground. This train had an H1 2nd out.
31:26 H-VBTVAW: After the coal train cleared VBTVAW proceeded south out of Mukilteo.
33:35 V-WENTAC(Vehicle Extra from Wenatchee, WA to Tacoma, WA): This is my second time using the Lumix. I was still trying to get acquainted with the camera, hence the shakiness, so please give me that. Anyway, this was a 10,000ft vehicle train. BNSF 718, a BNSF Bonnet, was also the last facing out DPU, so I had to take that opportunity.
36:13 Decided to throw this last clip in from Lowell, not sure why, but it does feature a CSX SD70MAC. Sorry about the dirty lens.
36:47 Thanks for Watching!
