Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter, Princess Lilibet Diana, was christened last Friday in an intimate ceremony at their home in Montecito, California.[0] People magazine reported that the event was attended by 20 to 30 guests, including Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and Lilibet’s godfather Tyler Perry.[1]
After the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September of last year, Harry and Meghan's kids, Lilibet and Archie, have been bestowed royal titles as per the regulations specified by King George V.[2]
Upon Queen Elizabeth's passing in September, Harry's father King Charles inherited the crown. As a result, Lilibet and Archie, who was 3 at the time, were bestowed the titles of Princess and Prince.[3] In 1917, King George V established a rule which meant that Meghan and Harry's children were not given royal titles as the great-grandchildren of the previous sovereign.[4]
When answering questions during his book promotion for Spare, Harry expressed his sincere desire for his kids to have relationships with the Royal Family in the future.
The couple's daughter, Lilibet, has been christened with her royal title of “Princess” used formally for the first time. The Sussexes released a statement that for the first time revealed their decision to use 'Princess' for their 21-month-old daughter, Lilibet Diana, six months after King Charles' accession to the throne in September. Archie shall be referred to as prince.[5]
Buckingham Palace said the royal website will "be updated in due course" to reflect the title.[6]
His Majesty asked Harry and Meghan to leave Frogmore Cottage, which had been their abode in the UK.[7] It is rumored that he will provide them with a suite of rooms in Buckingham Palace that were formerly owned by Andrew.[8]
The first picture of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's daughter Lilibet was released in a Christmas card on December 23, 2021.[9]
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in January, Prince Harry expressed his hope that his children would have a meaningful connection with the royal family.
An email correspondence has apparently been sent out to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, inviting them to the King and Queen Consort's coronation this May.[10]
