Johannes Stefansson is the former Director of Operations in Namibia for the Icelandic fishing company Samherji. Johannes blew the whistle on #corruption and bribery in the allocation of Namibian #fishing quotas by publicly disclosing 30,000 documents that were published by Wikileaks. The subsequent fallout became known as the ‘Fishrot Scandal’.
Johannes’s courageous #whistleblowing resulted in the resignation of two Namibian government officials and the suspension of Samerji’s CEO. A criminal investigation is still ongoing. The evidence Johannes collected was crucial to the investigation. Johannes has personally been subject to a sustained campaign of #harassment and intimidation by those he exposed.
