This is the official J Morris the Review Guy album review for the ninth studio length album by American punk rock, indie rock and riot grrrl band, Sleater-Kinney, entitled The Center Won't Hold!

Sleater-Kinney is still kicking it with this album!

Following a long hiatus after their 2005 album the Woods, Sleater-Kinney finally returned in 2015 album, No Cities to Love. Many thought it was a great return.

Now, not too long after No Cities to Love--especially when you consider the hiatuses after their prolific run in the 90's and early to mid 2000's!-- we get yet another record with The Center Won't Hold!

It's, once again, a very solid Sleater-Kinney record! It seems like the trio built on the maturity of their previous album in a cohesive way. Everything's still here in full spades; Carrie Brownstein's powerful punk vocal acrobatics, as well as her guitar work alongside fellow bandmate Corin Tucker, and the frenzied but simultaneously measured drum work by Janet Weiss...unfortunate she departed from the band after this.

The capable songwriting remains. And amazing production by St. Vincent makes The Center Won't Hold sound like a well-oiled machine. However, in their repetition and their well-oiled machinery playing, they find ways to experiment, and keep everything fresh and interesting. It's one of the best punk releases this year, and will be hard to top.

Sleater-Kinney remains to be essential. Not that I expected anything else, to be fair.

My least favorite track on this album is:
Bad Dance.
