Based in New York City, Amadoma Bediako is a storyteller and a Doula trainer.
She trains Doulas to work with families before, during and just after childbirth, in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Brownsville neighborhoods that have a high rate of premature births, low birth weight and infant mortality.
She is also the owner of "Eye Addom Childbirth Services", an organization that supports families as they bring new life into the world.
Eye Addom means "It is grace" or "By the grace of God".
As an Okomfo, Amadoma Bediako has studied and practiced some of the sacred birthing traditions of the Akan people of West Africa. She is now helping to birth the children of some of the sons and daughters of the mothers she helped thirty years ago.
