Many times this stems from broken attachment. And even if their attachment is intact, they may not know how to connect with others and form stronger bonds that will comfort their mind and heart.
When your attachment is broken, everything else is broken. That's true even if your attachment is healthy and everyone else's is broken. And in modern society, we aren't taught how to bond with people, what we need to feel happy, or how to feel secure in the long term.
