Vince Genella Jams with Steve Vai & Band at Vai Academy 5.0

For those that don't know what this is about, this is a jam session that takes place at Vai Academy with Steve and his band. No rehearsal. Just walk out, introduce yourself and go. The opening riff is part of an original tune of mine. Of course the band kicked in perfectly and off we went! Playing with Steve and the band is quite amazing, to say the least. At this point in their career they are beyond a "well oiled machine" besides their staggering talent, they've played together for so long. As with any band that spends years together, there is an amazing communication among them, it's telepathic. They have "HUGE EARS" and know how to make the guest feel welcome. When I started the riff they intuitively knew the groove and how it should feel. In the middle section when I took it down (totally unplanned), instantly they did too. Then Steve kept it down... then around 3:16 Jeremy follows my quirky chromatic riff on the drums. We build it back up and take it out. Such a great time and an amazing experience to get to share the stage, and make some music with them! Thank you Steve, Philip, Jeremy, Dave and Thomas for making me feel welcome. ~V
