Amazon Echo Dot is the latest addition to Amazon's Echo line of voice-controlled computing devices that connect to the Alexa Voice Service for providing responses to questions, playing music, reporting on weather, news or sports scores and more.

Like the original Amazon Echo, Echo Dot devices also offer smart home connectivity for controlling internet-enabled (Internet of Things - IoT) appliances in your home such as lights, thermostats, switches and similar smart electronics devices. Amazon Echo Dot also provides additional functionality for users through connections to apps and services like Spotify, Uber and Twitter.

Amazon Echo Dot users can wake up their device by simply saying the word "Alexa," and the device features seven microphones with beam-forming technology, enabling Echo to hear a person's voice from anywhere in a room.
