Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #212
While visiting my sister in L.A., I checked out the ruins of this old abandoned railway and resort lodge up in the San Gabriel mountains above Altadena...and it was really cool!
The Echo Mountain House was an elegant Victorian resort waaaay up on top of Mt. Lowe, which could only be reached by the Mt. Lowe tramway, which at the time had the distinction of being the only scenic mountain, electric traction (overhead electric trolley) railroad ever built in the United States. The tram operated from 1893-1938, and the hotel was open until it burned down in 1900. More info at: [ Ссылка ]
