Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) says it has taken control of Khartoum and Merowe airport, the presidential palace and the army chief's residence in response to alleged army attacks on its bases.
Explosions and heavy gunfire were heard around Sudan’s capital Khartoum amid tensions between the military and the RSF.
The dispute centres around a proposed transition to civilian rule. Since a coup in October 2021, generals have been running the country through the Sovereign Council
