Learn how to use Video Follows Audio to automatically show a video feed of whoever is speaking during a mic’d conversation, such as a corporate presentation or podcast interview. When you’re livestreaming or performing live, you’d normally need another person to help switch cameras. The Video Follows Audio mode allows you to go it alone and let the VR-1HD do the switching for you.
When there is a conversation, the cameras will follow the audio, so the person speaking is always displayed on the video feed. The two microphones are assigned to different HDMI inputs to represent each speaker. If both presenters talk at the same time or if no one is speaking, you can assign a third input to display a logo or wide shot showing both presenters. You’ll be able to set the sensitivity for the microphone, which sets how loud the presenter must speak to trigger auto-switching across the cameras. Then, set the minimum time, up to 120 seconds, between automatic camera switches to avoid frantic switching between video feeds. Finally, turn on auto-switching to enable the function.
